A growing and profitable Automotive Supplier in the North Vernon, Indiana area is in need of a 2nd Shift Welding Engineer. Preferring Candidates who are AWS Certified.

This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Vacation.


Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, is responsible for developing welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties, and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.


  • Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication
  • processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new
  • or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of
  • welding phenomena, or to concentrate and substantiate hypothesis.
  • Prepares technical reports as a result of research and development and preventative
  • maintenance investigations.
  • Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to
  • specifications, material processes, pre and post heating requirements which involve the use of
  • complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex
  • post-heating requirements.
  • Evaluates new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding
  • problems or production processes.
  • Directs and coordinates technical personnel in performing inspections to insure workers compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.
  • Performs experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
  • Performs other essential functions as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering or Engineering related field or equivalent experience.
  • Preferring Candidates who are AWS Certified and experienced with Robotic Arc & Spot Welding.
  • 3 years or more experience in the Welding field with an Automotive Supplier.
