SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST - ADRIAN, MICHIGAN

A growing and profitable Automotive Supplier in the Adrian, Michigan area is in need of a Senior Human Resource Generalist. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering a Competitive Compensation Package, Good Benefits, Paid Vacation and possible Bonus.

Purpose of Position:

To assist the Human Resources manager in general employee relations and administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, negotiating strategy and planning, training programs, and administrative support.

Statement of Major Responsibilities:

• The Senior Human Resources Generalist shall have a duty to support, participate in training, and help facilitate (as needed) the EMS and Quality systems systems as they relate to their respective areas of management for the company.

• Manage day-to-day labor agreement issues. Work closely with department management and bargaining unit employees. Assist in contract interpretation and consistent application. Coordinate grievance handling activity.

• Support and coordinate activities surrounding contract negotiations.

• Conduct training needs analysis, prepare strategic training plan, arrange approved training, monitor and evaluate training, and maintain appropriate training records and training data base.

• Recruits and staffs hourly work force, working closely with appropriate department management and outside organizations. Obtains candidates from selected sources, assists in the decision making process, makes offers, schedules physicals, conducts reference checks and presents/coordinates orientation programs.

• Maintains database for tracking and processing attendance and disciplinary actions of hourly workforce.

• Assists Human Resources Generalists by keeping abreast of current insurance coverage to help answer employee questions, facilitate open enrollment, etc.

• Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5-S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.

• Ensures he/she is in full compliance with the federal and state laws of Michigan and/or any other state, while representing or during the use of any Company provided equipment.

Work safely by following safe work practices, Company safety rules, and complying with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations and Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act, including:

• Complying with the salaried employee health & safety responsibilities,

• Inspecting regularly the work area(s) you have responsibility for,

• Conducting information sessions (i.e. safety talks, staff meetings, forums),

• Participating in meetings as needed or requested,

• Conducting accident/incident investigations,

• Correcting unsafe practices and conditions,

• Commending employee health and safety performance,

• Performing employee safety observations/layered audits,

Mentoring, training, and instruction materials are provided to help each employee comply with their safety responsibilities.

Knowledge:

• University or college degree or equivalent experience

• Sound knowledge of employment law, CBA Contract, and general rules and policies

• Understanding of the automotive/manufacturing industry

• Labor relations experience in unionized facility

• Minimum 3-5 years experience as HR generalist

Judgment:

• Dealing with grievance issues, employee relations issues and recommending course of action

• Determining appropriate steps to follow regarding disciplinary action

• Recommending external vendors for training and/or consulting taking into consideration budget constraints, culture and program offerings

Accountability:

• Adherence to Quality and EMS requirements

• Joint accountability with management on consistent, equitable treatment of employees

• Accountable for timely processing of grievances, arbitration hearings, and related union documentation

• Training analysis and annual training plan
