ACCOUNTANT – 2+ years’ of experience

Venteon Finance is currently seeking an Accountant for a real estate investment company located in Southfield. The Accountant will work directly with the Controller & CEO and will be a critical role for the accounting operations of the company.

Requirements of the Accountant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of Residential/Commercial Property Management experience
  • Proficient in QuickBooks.
  • Previous work experience with property management software: AMSI, Yardi OR Entrata
  • Excellent understanding of GAAP compliant accounting practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel

Responsibilities of the Accountant

  • Manage the cash management function ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core team member expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing, and total corporate payroll tax compliance. Assure all current and pending disbursements are properly funded to avoid bank overdrafts and minimize the need for owner loans or capital calls.
  • Manage the compliance of Accounts Receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, legal process, and collection efforts.
  • Assist in the management of Insurance and Risk Programs including timely application and renewals of general liability, property, umbrella, work comp, crime, D&O, E&O, and security bond policies.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all general ledgers and verify the accuracy of the information.
  • Assist with year-end closing and prepare documentation for external auditors and tax accountants.
  • Prepare smaller entity tax returns and adjusting entries in compliance with filing deadlines.
  • Assist with completion of financial statements, prepare confidential internal and external reports.
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Review and oversee timely and complete financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the entity-specific semi-annual report.
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Oversee corporate income tax return completion.
