CORPORATE PLANT LAYOUT ENGINEER - ROYAL OAK, MICHIGAN

A growing and profitable Automotive Supplier in Royal Oak, Michigan is in need of a Corporate Layout Engineer. A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is Required.

We are looking for a highly motivated Civil Engineer who has professional experience in Industrial Design and Supervision of Construction on behalf of clients. This person should have good knowledge of building design (especially static calculation) and implementation processes, building materials and technologies. This role will involve some travel as well.

This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering a Competitive Compensation Package, Paid Vacation, Bonus and Good Benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible management of Greenfield and Brownfield Building projects
  • Participation in creating of layout planning for all locations
  • Monitoring of building permission procedure and authority contacts
  • Participation in the selection of new manufacturing locations
  • Development and implementation of standards for efficient technical infrastructure
  • Participation in the development of a modular factory structure
  • Disciplinary leadership of the team in factory planning

Judgement

  • Reviews appropriateness of manufacturing processes / tooling process
  • Scheduling of priority items within the department
  • Compliance of engineering processes within company policies and procedures
  • Compatibility of new product business with company operations

Accountability

  • Maintains strong, positive relationships with customers and addresses issues / concerns in a timely and effective manner
  • Contributes to managing costs and budget as outlined
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation regarding TS16949, APQP and customer requirements
  • Accountable for ensuring development timelines are met prior to award
  • Follows company policies, procedures, engineering standards and control methods
  • Compliance with Government legislation while working on company business

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Practical knowledge based on 3-5 years’ experience in the Automotive Industry
  • Thorough understanding of TS16949 / ISO 14001 and APQP requirements
  • Familiar with software programs that deal with relevant Sales and Engineering functions
  • General knowledge of government legislation affecting the workplace, e.g. health and safety
  • Thorough understanding of TS16949/ISO 14001 and APQP requirements
  • University Degree / College Diploma in Graduated Civil Engineer or equivalent job related experience

Lean

  • Understanding and use of relevant methods and tools in all processes, and adherence to applicable standards.
  • Understanding and use of the applicable shop floor and Office Management pillars and standards, and active participation in all applicable shop floor and Office Management meetings and activities.
  • Understanding and use of the Company's leadership Behaviors in the daily relationship with Other colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • Understanding, support and participation in all tasks, training and development topics that will drive the company towards Lean Excellence.

  • Setting a good example by using safe practices and following Company and legal requirements.
  • Communicating actual or potential hazards to employees.
  • Planning and organizing work in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury or illness.
