3RD SHIFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - NOVI, MICHIGAN

A growing Automotive Supplier in the Novi, Michigan area is in need of a 3rd Shift Maintenance Supervisor. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays & Vacation.

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the co-ordination and assignment of all Divisional activities related to robotic maintenance operations and ensuring that all timing schedules and trades' regulations are adhered to. The Maintenance Supervisor supports Leadership and Maintenance personnel by acting as liaison in matters regarding policy application, employee relations, and continuous improvement for processes and productivity. This position carries direct and/or indirect leadership responsibility for approximately 10 Employees on 2nd Shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes and maintains effective communications/interaction with all Departments, including but not limited to engineering, quality assurance, production, HR and material control support groups in order to achieve established targets.
  • Conducts all business activity in a professional manner consistent with the positive leadership practices of building trust, empowerment, and competitiveness, with emphasis on personal responsibility. Follows and sets a positive example of Leadership on a daily basis. Deals with issues and problems in a positive fashion.
  • Assumes the role of the Maintenance Manager in his/her absence.
  • Plans and directs the utilization and use of all equipment and manpower to achieve the most effective results. Manpower and equipment utilization are meeting or exceeding expected results/targets.
  • Co-ordinates preventative maintenance with maintenance technical group and production planning.
  • Orders materials required for repair, modification, installation, and maintenance of equipment. Abides by Company‚Äôs Purchasing Policy.
  • Provides direction and oversees that contractors adhere to all plant policies and procedures.
  • Manages maintenance program/database ensuring accurate data is entered to determine proactive courses of action.
  • Supports daily PM assignments, does follow-up and monitors PM schedule.
  • Regularly monitors scoreboards to observe where issues are occurring, and that maintenance offers assistance and support to production team members; Responds to Andon based on the escalation process, as required.
  • Quality issues or concerns within their area of responsibility are dealt with by applying root cause analysis, in an effective manner.
  • Assists with repair, modification, and installation activities with other maintenance personnel (when required).
  • Participates in the design and/or redesign of new or used equipment.
  • Participates in the APQP process related to new product.
  • Uses TWI methods where applicable.
  • Monitors and shares KPI results with employees to encourage continuous improvement results. KPI's are monitored through daily methods. KPI results are reviewed regularly using a variety of means i.e. pre-shift and department meetings, postings and one on one.
  • Participates in the development of the department action plan and leads their team to achieve strategic goals and continuous improvement objectives in alignment with the Company's business plan.
  • Prepares and supports the budget planning process and takes responsibility to meet the financial targets. Follows budget requirements for department labor and spending. Follows spending policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Promotes/recommends continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people, processes and equipment/machinery.
  • Assists in the development of procedures and methods which improve Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost and Motivation.
  • Ensures confidentiality in all matters pertaining to both business and employee relations.
  • Participates in department meetings to communicate Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost and Motivation information and to promote involvement in issues affecting employees or their work areas.
  • Directs and distributes the work for their area of responsibility.
  • Completes Payroll activities for employees.
  • Performance Management - Observe, understand, teach, coach and mentor direct reports for enhancement of knowledge, skills and succession planning.
  • Ensures employees are trained or certified, as required and participates in training programs as required.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma Required. College Degree or Certificate Preferred. Minimum 5 years of Supervisory & Leadership experience in a Manufacturing Plant.
  • Experience with Fanuc Robots and Welded Assembly Processes is Required
  • Must possess knowledge and proven skills in at least one of the following: Lean Manufacturing (standardized work, value stream mapping, etc.), Six Sigma or Kaizen & Project Management.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

The Maintenance Supervisor must combine his/her technical, human, and conceptual skills to plan, control and lead the maintenance team toward meeting divisional goals and objectives.

  • Fork Lift / Tugger License an asset.
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced environment and with a variable workload and able to work flexible hours, including the off shift to support customer demands.
  • Strong organizational, time management, planning, written, and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Demonstrates a maturity of judgement, leadership skills, attention to detail and exceptional presentation skills in all aspects of the job function.
  • Excellent math skills with the ability to apply to cost and analyze data.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with other team members.
  • Able to maintain proper level of confidentiality.
