A growing Manufacturing Company in the East Chicago, Indiana area is in need of a Lean / Continuous Improvement Manager. We are looking for an experienced and proven Six Sigma Black Belt for this role. This is a Newly Created, Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Good Benefits, Bonus, Paid Vacation and Holidays!


Responsible for deploying a comprehensive strategy for Lean Six Sigma adoption across the organization. Lean Six Sigma framework is leveraged for process improvement and employee development to achieve higher levels of product quality and operation excellence throughout key functions of the value chain. Engages the organization to adapt or maintain a lean continuous improvement culture.


  • Follows all policies and procedures as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures, Safety/Environmental Management System, and various other Employment Policies and sources as they relate to the job function.
  • Leverage Lean Six Sigma (LSS) to increase the success of the organization’s strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and prioritize a project portfolio to improve key performance indicators. Drives leaders to implement continuous improvement and eliminate flow inhibitors.
  • Compose and maintain compelling project charters that identify objectives, scope and financial and other benefits.
  • Lead project through all the phases of the continuous improvement framework (DMAIC, DMADV, PDCA).
  • Accelerate improvement efforts with the use of proven tools and methods such as Kaizen Blitz.
  • Utilize careful process observation and value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste.
  • Ensure processes are developed, established and implemented in alignment with the quality vision and culture.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement with an emphasis on developing LSS experts in each function.
  • Builds an effective relationship network of stakeholders and resources within the organization for project buy-in and sustainment.
  • Increase the culture where the people who actually DO the work are involved in HOW the work gets done.
  • Drive culture change – Drive fact-based decision making and teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Drives lean thinking into the office implementing 5S and visual management and daily improvements as appropriate.
  • Develop the organization by training and coaching associates on the application of the Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Another related technical field may be considered.
  • Relevant Professional certifications from recognized business associations (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, PMP, etc.) from a reputable organization are required.
  • MBA or equivalent business management qualification desirable.
  • Experience coaching and delivering training at all levels of an organization preferred.
  • Three years of experience in facilitating and leading improvement projects including change management.
  • Combination of educational qualification and work experience can be considered for equivalence.
  • Experience applying Lean and Six Sigma tools, applications, methodologies specifically: Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Blitz, Theory of Constraints, Quality Functional Deployment, Pugh Matrix and Kano Analysis.
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma a plus: using QFD to translate customer requirements into technical requirements.
