Our client in Downtown Detroit is seeking to hire a CORPORATE PAYROLL SUPERVISOR.

JOB TYPE: Direct Hire PAY: Excellent compensation package with benefits.

SCOPE: Responsible for production of payroll including the payment of taxes for a group of 10,000 union and non-union employees. This includes supervision of the Payroll Processors.


  • Supervise a team of 9 professionals Provide oversight for all aspects of the payroll process.
  • Solves business and operating problems related to their area using recognized financial analysis techniques.
  • Responsibilities include monthly accruals, accurate and timely payments in accordance with contract terms, and account reconciliations.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies and report monthly performance metrics.
  • Monitor current work practices. Use continuous improvement and lean systems methodologies to keep systems functioning at high capacity and make use of new technologies.
  • Create a positive working environment, support training and development, diversity, work and personal life balance and enterprise core values.
  • Planning, organizing, directing the performance of ongoing activities and special assignments, staffing (employee selection, training/coaching and performance management), time entry, coordinating, reporting and budgeting.
  • Conduct other related management duties as assigned.


  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or technical discipline. Preferred: MBA or Master Degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Payroll. Functional expertise in financial analysis or accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 + years payroll experience with large company (10,000 + employees)
  • Experience with SAP HR/Payroll systems
  • Certified Payroll Professional
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement skills
  • Knowledge of federal and multi-state income tax regulations and tax reciprocity rules.
