Our client in Romulus, Michigan is in need of a WELDING ENGINEER


  • Perform, recommend and develop preventative maintenance procedures for all plant welding equipment including robotic systems.
  • Evaluate processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld parameters and weld efficiency.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Take lead on new job startup and Engineering changes, involving all aspects from PPAP run, setting up spare parts inventory, PM program, documentation, and training.
  • Support new model launches and improvement teams.
  • Ensure process capability by setting up preventative maintenance programs.
  • Collaborates with Quality and Tooling engineers on FMEA's and control plans.
  • Perform machinist duties and responsibilities to support production as needed.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust.
  • Generate process parameter sheets (work standard and weld parameter sheets) for all new incoming programs.
  • Analyzes and resolves, or assists others, in solving chronic process and quality issues by actively participating in corrective action, 8D’s, and root cause analysis processes.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. Perform weld inspection methods (cut & etch, ultrasonic and destructive testing).
  • Ensure utilization of continuous improvement of current processes.Maintains clean and safe working conditions at work station and throughout plant.Participate in continuous improvement and 5S activities.
  • Communicate optimally to provide accurate, necessary and timely information to all team members.
  • Maintain compliance with company policy, health and safety procedures, and programs. Other duties as assigned
