A growing and profitable Automotive Supplier in the Toledo, Ohio area is in need of an Assistant Safety Manager. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Vacation.


Assist with directing, coordinating and managing the overall Corporate/Plant Safety and Environmental Operations.

Assures that organizational safety standards are achieved at plant levels and that plant personnel are maintaining and monitoring the programs in compliance with organizational policies, OSHA regulations, Department of Health, and corporate requirements.

Assists with direction of the Environmental Management System ISO-14001 and related compliance obligations.


Formulates general safety policies and measures to be followed by Corporate or plant personnel.

Inspects or tours plant facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventive measures where indicated.

Consults with Corporate Engineering, all plants and build shops on design and use of equipment, shops, fire prevention, and safety programs.

Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries, cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for Corporate in case of hearings or lawsuits.

Compiles and submits required OSHA accident reports, if needed.

Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs that will increase proficiency at the Corporate or plant level.

Authorized to shut down all unsafe machinery pertaining to health and safety.

Evaluates and recommends changes in methods and procedures in assigned area of responsibility.

Assist with safety programs, managing safety functions, and assist with ergonomic issues.

Assist with customer requirements in safety areas.

Assist with new equipment safety and environmental buy-offs prior to production use.

Assist with short and long term strategic planning and implementation.

Assist with updating corporate equipment standards in the area of safety.

Manage safety and ergonomic issues that will reduce workman's compensation and insurance costs.

Recommends general environmental policies and directions for corporate and plant personnel.

Assists plants with EMS/ISO considerations and directs corporate EMS/ISO considerations

Manages environmental compliance obligations.

Assists with legal requirements related to safety and EMS/EPA.

Perform other essential functions as assigned such as Safety Buy-off's and Checks.


A Bachelor's Degree in Safety is preferred or Equivalent Experience.

Minimum of 5 years of Safety Management experience, preferably with Automotive / Stamping supplier

Good working knowledge of Stamping Presses, Machinery and other Manufacturing Equipment.

Some Travel is Required to the Company's Manufacturing Plants, Build Shops and Integrator's.
