Our legal client in Detroit is seeking to hire an extremely sharp LAW FIRM CREDIT AND COLLECTIONS MANAGER. This prestigious firm has been in operation for over 70 years and holds a high reputation in all areas of law practice. The Detroit office is the national hub for all offices nationally.

JOB TYPE: Full time, direct employment

PAY: $90,000-$100,000+ Directly commensurate with skills, experience and presentation

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the Accounts Receivable collection process and staff of 3 to promote the company’s cash flow operations.

  • Hire, motivate, train and review staff performance.

  • Work ongoing toward achievement of the target levels for collections.

  • Manage investments in Work in Process and Accounts Receivable to identify items requiring assignment to your billing and collection staff.

  • Work with accounting staff, and clients to review and address unapplied cash and short-paid invoices. Assist staff in complicated receipt allocations and complex account reconciliations.

  • Negotiate payment plans and settlements subject to management approval and ensure that payment plans are adhered to.

  • Work with Department Chairs and the Operating Committee Chair to keep all parties informed of credit concerns and collections problems. Work to escalate matters to senior firm management, when appropriate.

  • Prepare various status reports and analyses for firm management including Watch Lists and Large Client reports.

  • Responsible for period closing activities for month/quarter/year.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in accounting/finance.

  • (5) Five years Credit and Collections management experience in a Law Firm environment OR (10) ten years Credit and Collections management experience in a large company.

  • Minimum of five years Supervisory experience and ability to supervise and develop staff effectively.

  • Must have superior communication skills Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong negotiation and facilitation skills.
