OPERATIONS PROCUREMENT MANAGER - ADRIAN, MICHIGAN

A growing and profitable Automotive Supplier in the Adrian, Michigan area is in need of an Operations Procurement Manager. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership in Managing Operational Procurement activities within the Company's Plants.
  • Executes global, regional and local category strategy at the plant level.
  • Total responsibility for supplier management at the plant level.
  • Ensures material/parts shortages from suppliers are resolved in expected time frame
  • Tracks & ensures raw material suppliers carry inventory as per established guidelines
  • Works closely with Materials & suppliers to resolve release issues
  • Ensures supplier PPAPs are approved on time
  • Ensures suppliers get releases on time as per supplier lead times to SOP
  • Leads and manages operational procurement activities and plant specific categories
  • Lead & resolve all operational issues related to suppliers
  • Ensures flawless supplier launch for new programs at plants
  • Ensures plant follows supplier notification & charge back process in Quality/ Delivery issues
  • Ensures plant inputs supplier performance data in system regularly
  • Executes annual cost reduction plans and supplier consolidation plans as laid out by category teams, on time
  • Manage the smooth transition to new suppliers for all re-sourcing no shortages
  • Provides leadership and strategic direction for Outsourced Stamping's for the Plant
  • Ensure timely issuance of POs & signing of Baileys at all times, wherever applicable
  • Conduct pre-BRM reviews with plant management and provide Procurement response to BRMs
  • Conduct periodic Operational Review Meetings with suppliers as per guidelines
  • Develops a solid understanding of spend by category and suppliers and to build leverage at plant level.
  • Sets clear objectives to buyers in meeting plant objectives;
  • Conducts weekly review of the objectives; measures, monitors and communicates progress and challenges if any in a timely manner.
  • Participates in scheduled category specific Operational Reviews and category meetings.
  • Monthly review of purchasing performance and KPI reporting to plant teams
  • Establishes alignment with plant specific Managers responsible for Materials, Quality, Engineering, Finance and Maintenance in plant
  • Ensures compliance to procurement processes and procedures related to category management, cost management and supplier management.
  • Ensures supply chain specifications, service delivery and quality match specifications to meet business needs.
  • Ensures that procurement business practices are compatible with Company policies, industry best practices and respective country laws, reviews legally binding agreements with Legal.
  • Assists in responding to all customers inquires.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in managing plant Procurement activities
  • Leadership experience in handling procurement projects, ideally in automotive manufacturing setting.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and managing a team of Buyers with strong focus on time and correct resolution of day to day operational issues related to suppliers, cost avoidance, etc.
  • Proven experience in Operational Procurement Performance Improvement.
  • Very good understanding of automotive stamping manufacturing process and excellent working knowledge of direct and indirect categories that include steel, aluminum, fasteners, tubes, Indirect spend categories, MRO, packaging etc.
  • Solid experience in supplier management that includes risk mitigation and performance improvement.
  • ERP experience in SAP.
  • Sound understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO14001 requirements.
