A growing and profitable Automotive Supplier in the Detroit, Michigan area is in need of a First Shift Tool Room Manager. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Vacation.


The Tool Room Manager will supervise Tool Room Personnel and coordinate all activities of the Tooling Department. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


  • Directly supervise all tool room personnel for the most favorable costs and quality workmanship.
  • Determine and review all tooling processes for cost effectiveness and feasibility, both before and after engineering releases to production.
  • Maintain the established maintenance program that successfully cares for all tools to prevent quality and productivity problems.
  • Implement tooling engineering changes.
  • Maintain tool improvement program that is data driven and successful in providing ongoing improvement related to die and tool performance.
  • Analyze machining and tooling problems and coordinate corrective action.
  • Provide instruction and guidance in the use of tool room equipment.
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Maintains harmonious employer/associate relations among those within the department.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.


  • Previous Automotive Stamping and Welding expertise.
  • Journeyman Tool and Die Maker's Card is desired but not required.
  • Previous Tier 1 Automotive Tool Room Management Experience is Needed
  • Hands on the floor leader with training experience and strong communication skills
