Our client in Jackson, Michigan is in need of a 1st SHIFT ROBOT PROGRAMMER

SUMMARY

Responsible for setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining automation equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.
  • Responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up assistance.
  • Create and modify Fanuc robot programs, resistance welding programs while consistently maintaining the essential parameters.
  • Modify and create back-up files for robotic welding programs, maintaining essential weld parameters.
  • Validate process parameters and enter system deviations when applicable.Assist in troubleshooting all equipment throughout the Welding, Resistance and Assembly areas.
  • Use a PLC to operate and diagnose equipment; use machine controls to operate and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Robot, PLC, HMI, and any low voltage devices in all areas of the plant.
  • Assist with rewriting, altering or redesigning legacy ladder logic as needed throughout the plant. This includes creating logic for new program launches.Set-up and verify errors on the machine, ensuring that error proofing systems are functioning according to the instructions.
  • Provide assistance to error proofing process through 8D and 5 Why problem solving.
  • Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements.
  • Evaluates new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes.
  • Perform inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.Interface with other departments to meet goals.
  • Provides weekly reports to Vice President of Operations.Conduct a compliance audit to legal and other requirements at least once per year or as legal and other requirements change. Commits to the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Quality and Environmental Management systems. Effectively utilize capacity available to maximize profits while meeting customer service product availability and on-time delivery objectives.Track disposal of consumer electronics.Tracks non-conforming WIP materials and processing techniques, making improvement recommendations based upon data collected and analyzed.
  • Provides assistance with scrap, lot sizing and coding, and WIP process tracking activities.
  • Assists with Continuous Improvement Projects.
  • Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures, including environmental and quality standards.
  • May perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials. Interface with other departments to meet goals.Prevents or eliminates defects in new or existing products. Analyze test data and reports to determine if functional and performance specifications are satisfied
  • Maintains safe working environment in areas of responsibility.
