Our client in Ravenswood, West Virginia is in need of a Customer Application Engineer

Looking for a Customer Application Engineer (CAE) to bring technical support to its main customers and to develop our markets through identifying new product development options that will sustain long-term growth plans.

The Role

The position forms part of the Sales Team for Transportation, Industry & Defence within Aerospace & Transportation business unit. The role will focus on technical selling of aluminum semi-products for the Semiconductor sector (microchip and flat panel display production), Marine sector (naval, commercial transportation and pleasure boat vessels) and Industry sectors (plates for precision component and tooling plate applications, plastic injection molds for the automotive industry, structural parts for aircraft interiors, general engineering plate) as well as other sectors adjacent to these as required. Within these sectors, the role will in particular support the sales teams in growing sales of precision plate products which provide improved machining performance at lower through-life costs for general engineering and precision component customers.

The successful candidate will bring not only strong technical competencies but also a clear commercial mind-set and ability to understand and develop business cases, supported by excellent interpersonal and communication skills and significant experience in aluminum alloy-related industries. The CAE will identify and develop application projects with customers (OEM’s/Tier 1’s /Distributors & Service Providers), working together with Sales Directors and Managers, in order to grow business. More specifically the CAE is responsible for selling the technical value of products as well as identifying current and future needs of customers in order to drive new product development activities including the development of good commercial propositions and business cases. He/she will also lead qualification activities with customers and monitor adoption / ramp-up phases for customers to accept new products.

The CAE position involves a high level of interaction with sales teams, marketing and business development managers, R&D project leaders, as well as manufacturing teams. The CAE also has a key role in ensuring that C can provide the right products for its key customers, with short, demanding lead-times. He/she therefore needs to have ability to inspire, motivate and lead diverse/cross-cultural teams, regardless of reporting lines.
