Technical Specialist Diesel Calibration, Validation and Certification Auburn Hills, MI
As a Technical Specialist specializing in diesel engine calibration and development, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring project teams in the creation and calibration of base engine controls, aftertreatment controls or on-board diagnostic (OBD) systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for general diesel engine development work and testing as well as validation and certification activities performed on-road as well as on chassis and engine dynos. Working with highly motivated individuals from across the globe on a variety of engines, vehicles and markets, the Technical Specialist will be able to widen their scope of experience so that they will be on the forefront of technology across the globe

Requirements:

  • Expert level regulatory understanding CARB, EU-OBD, EPA-OBD, WWH-OBD
  • Extensive experience in calibration of base engine and aftertreatment control strategies to fulfill customer and regulatory requirements or extensive experience in calibration and implementation of OBD strategies meeting CARB regulations
  • Excellent IC engine fundamentals : Combustion, Thermodynamics, Heat transfer
  • Extremely strong fundamentals in Diesel engine operation
  • Extremely strong fundamentals in exhaust after treatment systems
  • Extremely strong knowledge in the field of automotive sensors and actuators
  • Full understanding of electronic control system strategies, know-how on how the logic implementation and control system functions
  • Full understanding of ECU strategy and calibration principles such as DoE
  • Experience in OBD and/or emissions data preparation for certification
  • Experience in OBD and/or emissions testing for certification, data consolidation and presentation preparation
  • Experience in logic diagram development and concept preparation
  • Experience leading technical project teams and mentoring team members
  • Project management skills and experience interacting with customers on a project management level
  • Skilled in handling calibration tools such as INCA, ATI-VISION, CALDESK, CANalyzer
  • Skilled in handling test environments such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • Skilled in handling MS-Word, Excel, Project, Outlook

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in a highly dynamic diesel engine development market.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field required
  • Candidates with Master's degree preferred
    • Relevant course work and in depth knowledge is preferred
  • Extensive calibration and / or development experience with diesel engines
  • Experience leading technical project teams and mentoring team members
  • Working experience with some or all of the following tools:
  • ETAS INCA
  • ATI Vision
  • Vector CANape, CANalyzer, MATLAB/Simulink
