Our client in Middleville, Michigan is in need of a Corporate Program Manager - Tooling


Supports all Companies with all aspects of Tool Build activities. Coordinates tool build, E/C processes and Customer requirements within the Tool Room. Recommends strategy and best supply base for each tool. Ensures financial viability of each project, while urgently addressing any areas of concern. Responsible for Tool Room job status records. This position is the main Customer contact for current and past tooling and repair related contracts.


  • Primary point of contact for contract tooling customers.
  • Establish and maintain a good rapport with Customers and outside sources.
  • Provide communication and support to estimating, working to ensure customer needs are considered and met when possible.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supply base to support all tool build activities, including outside design, CNC, and best cost country supply.
  • Evaluate and recommend best strategy for each tool based on internal capacity, cost, etc.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining all internal and external die build time lines.
  • Follow progress of new tools and engineering changes, and provide the Customer with required Progress Reports.
  • Coordinate new tool build and repair scheduling with the Customer’s requirements.
  • Assure that the current level of internal and Customer’s Tool Build and Repair Standards are provided.Schedule all design reviews and assist Die Designers as required in designing the most efficient die.
  • Coordinate tool shop and home line run offs with our external die build customers and suppliers.Process and maintain all Tool Build Status and EC Records as necessary.
  • Coordinate Customer requirements with the Shipping and Receiving Department.
  • Quote or assist in quoting engineering changes for internal/external die build customers as needed.
  • Report progress on all tool builds according to timelines established on a weekly basis both physically and financially.
  • Attend program review meetings and provide updates on tooling actions items as needed.Primary responsibility of part CAD data storage for all internal and external tool builds.
  • Request quotes and requisition tool build work to outside sources from Approved Vendor List as required.
  • Responsible to manage within budget.Establish budgets from quote for tool build activities and report actual vs. budgets.
  • Work with Product Development Engineering Manager and Tooling Operations Manager to ensure tool build capacity model is up to date, working together to manage capacity within given boundaries.
  • Works with Accounts Receivable in a very timely manner to maintain the proper billing status.Promote a safe, clean working environment.Perform related duties as assigned.


Equivalent to a high school education with formal specialized training equal to two (2) years of college including computer systems and data entry.


Minimum four (4) years of related experience in tool build processes. Must be knowledgeable of the design, build, and machining processes. Some experience in dealing with Customers is desirable. Requires well developed written and verbal communication skills. . Working knowledge of the tool build process from start to completion. Knowledge of all types of raw materials and their respective applications including heat treating and appropriate coatings.
