FIRST SHIFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - ALPENA, MICHIGAN

A stable and profitable Manufacturing Company in the Alpena, Michigan area is in need of a First Shift Maintenance Supervisor. Our client is looking for a hands on the floor supervisor with strong electrical troubleshooting skills. This person will supervise the Electrical Maintenance staff, assist in coordinating any activities of the Electrical Department and ensure the equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition.

This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Immediate Benefits, Paid Holidays and Vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise Electrical department personnel, including training, performance management and scheduling activities. Assist with hiring process.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, health and environmental rules and regulations.
• Oversee department inventory and inventory control.
• Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
• Work cooperatively with other departments to meet plant objectives, diagnose complex equipment problems, and meet plant goals.
• Use various equipment to determine cause of electrical problems.
• Assist in manufacturing, repair and installation of electrical equipment.
• Participate in process improvement, cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain knowledge of industry - wide technological developments.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of heavy industrial electrical equipment, operations and predictive / preventative maintenance systems.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements.
• Knowledge of current management and supervisory techniques.
• Effective leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Basic budgeting and financial analysis skills.
• Computer / PLC skills.
• Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to implement change.
• Ability to interface with peers.
• Ability to use computer and programs with reasonable proficiency.
• 2 years' technical or vocational school.
• An Electrical Degree is desired but Not Required.
• Experience supervising state Licensed Electricians
• Experience working with the national electrical code and other applicable codes.
• 3 to 5 years of Electrical / Mechanical maintenance systems experience.
• Demonstrated Supervisory or Previous Management experience.
