Our manufacturing client in Commerce Township needs to hire a TRADE COMPLIANCE ANALYST to provide support.

JOB TYPE: Open Ended Contract. Pay: $25.00 per hour ($50,000 annual)

SCOPE: Assist the Trade and Compliance Manager by assisting in export and/or import activities. Oversee Customs Reconciliation and duty drawback programs.

DUTIES:

  • Communicate with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on technical duty drawback matters, prepare duty drawback entries for electronic submission to CBP with assistance from Customs brokers.
  • Communicate daily with brokers, freight forwarders and vendors concerning shipment and documentation issues.
  • Monitor with Customs Broker timeliness and accuracy of customs entries and releases and ensure a high level of data integrity.
  • Monitor Drawback claims.
  • Maintain overall compliance with CBP duty drawback regulations.
  • Support with data and analytics capabilities to identify duty drawback opportunities.
  • Assist with Customs reconciliation processes.
  • Prepare and review requirements for government programs; Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT).
  • Work closely with freight forwarders, Customs brokers, and internal departments regarding classification, duty rates and documentation for export declarations and import entries/reconciliations. File reconciliations.
  • Respond to CBP and CBSA audits and requests for information.
  • Calculate design and development assists for US and Canada.
  • Facilitate renewal of Continuous Customs Bonds for US and Canada.
  • Classify all goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. When needed, request binding ruling.
  • Prepare licenses, permits, and other necessary international documents.
  • Assist with creation and execution of annual Certificates of Origin to FKA customers.
  • Process and validate export and import shipping documentation for ad-hoc and other manual shipments.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Solid knowledge of US Customs, along with knowledge of sanctions, embargos, and anti-boycott regulations.
  • Familiarity with international trade organizations, country specific regulatory requirements, re-export, deemed exports, and transshipments.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including ability to extract and analyze data from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) information systems
  • Strong analytical and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and C-TPAT.
  • Excellent communication.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A two-year degree from an accredited college or university is preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • A minimum of three years duty drawback experience as a customs broker, industry trade specialist, or import specialist.
  • Experience with trade compliance information systems
  • A minimum of two years’ experience with export and/or import regulatory compliance.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience with international business transactions and shipping documents.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing international shipping documents such as commercial invoice, packing list, air waybill, and export license; including consignee information, INCOTERMS, harmonized tariff code and nomenclature, country of origin, customs value, export classification, and license data.
