TOOL ROOM MANAGER - BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN

A growing and profitable Automotive Supplier in the Battle Creek, Michigan area is in need of a Tool Room Manager. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Supervises and coordinates the activities of tool makers, apprentices, and operating workers, such as precision workers,
assemblers, fabricators, and inspectors in the tool room.
• Supervision of team members to include training and development, communication and enforcement of company policies and procedures, performance coaching and evaluation, and written documentation of team member performance issues
• Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences, to meet production goals.
• Calculates labor and equipment requirements and production specifications, using standard formulas.
• Reviews operations and accounting records or reports to determine the feasibility of production estimates and evaluate current production.
• Confers with tool makers to coordinate operations and activities within departments or between departments.
• Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, or production schedules to determine production requirements.
• Maintains operations data, such as time, production, cost records, QOS Metrics and prepares management reports.
• Manages tool room operations to maximize resources to achieve productivity and profitability.
• Approves requisitions for materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
• Ensures operators conform to tool room production or processing standards.
• Demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures to new employees or assigns employees to experienced workers for training.
• Monitors work areas and enforces safety or sanitation regulations.
• Responsible for suggesting methods to improve area operations, processes, efficiency, and service to both internal and external customers to ensure world class tool room.
• Confers with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
• Communicates clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
• Uphold confidentiality and build trust in Management
• Schedule and assign team members to appropriate tasks to achieve department daily production, quality and housekeeping goals
• Promote and practice “safety first” policy by addressing all hazards, defective equipment and unsafe conditions immediately
• Promote and facilitate Open Door process without reprisal, effective communication and Fair Treatment
• Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies
• Has a robust preventative maintenance program that covers die cast tooling, term die tooling, re-strike tooling and cnc fixtures.
• Promote and practice “safety first” by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within the manufacturing floor and work stations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous Tool Room Management Experience is needed in an Automotive Manufacturing Plant
• A Journeyman's Card is Preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; or 10 years of related experience and training.
• Prefer Tool Making Certificate working in Stamping, Die Cast or Plastic Injection Molding.
• Understanding of CNC Cutting Processes and Die Cast or Injection Molding Processes.
