Our client is looking for a Controller. Th position is located in Metro Detroit MI.

General Description

This is an incredibly unique opportunity for a high profile "ground floor" role as the Company has significant growth plans. The candidate will work directly with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and other senior management of the business including the CEO.

The ideal candidate will lead the monthly closing processes, internal and investor financial reporting, and will lead the overall annual audit process with the external CPA firm. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.

RESPONSIBLITES

  • Lead month-end close process, including maintaining the general ledger and sub ledgers
  • Review journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and analyze account variances
  • Communicate and follow up with business partners to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP
  • Direct operational accounting, reconciliation and reporting
  • Lead the research of technical accounting literature including interpretation of new accounting standards
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly reporting and assist the CFO in developing a consistent reporting structure
  • Identify and implement process/internal control improvements, reconciliation process and system enhancements
  • Manage annual audit with external CPA firm and complete all audit requirements
  • Support the CFO in preparation of the annual budget and other forecasting
  • Oversee the accounts payable function
  • Play an integral role in the build-out of an accounting and finance team to support the company’s strong growth initiatives.
  • Coordinate the delivery of financial updates to doctor partners on a monthly basis
  • Lead the purchase-related accounting of new partnerships.
  • Support the CFO with enhancing the treasury process
  • Supervise staff members

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a controller, assistant controller or accounting manager with 6+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Medical industry experience a strong plus
  • 2+ years of recent financial experience
  • BA or BS in Business, Accounting or Finance; Master’s Degree is a plus
  • CPA or additional certifications that exemplify a desire for continued education is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of the following: MS Office, including Excel, and accounting software
  • Exceptional organizational and presentation skills
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mind
  • Proven experience as a collaborative team player
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set
