Our automotive insurance client is seeking a LAW OFFICE SUPPORT for their office in Detroit

Temporary position - 3 months

In office position

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs a variety of administrative and/or clerical support functions for the legal department which may include data input, courier activities, general typing, filing and record keeping. May learn and perform duties of other Law Office Support staff if needed.
  • Data Input
  • Enters information in CLMS data base to create a record of claim litigation. Updates and maintains the Claim Processing System (CPS), assignment, transfer and modification to the CLMS data base.
  • Performs all necessary processes to close files which includes final disposition letter, forwards all files to designated branches and ensures distribution of expense checks. Types and mails settlement checks and survey letters.
  • Processes accounting reports such as bank reconciliation statements, outstanding draft listing and JUA statements. Processes claim cash receipts, claim check corrections, and deposit outside checks. Processes stop payments and check copies. Keeps log of work output. Enters vendor account information.
  • Delivers and files various court orders, court papers, legal memos, and legal fees to court personnel or judges and obtains appropriate signatures as required.
  • Delivers legal files, papers, and reports to various lawyers as requested.
  • Registers and confirms company court dates with court clerks and notifies Legal office of confirmations or alternations.
  • Relieves mail clerk as necessary.
  • Trains mail clerk on various court courier duties.
  • Types reports and correspondence.
  • Computes and compiles routine data, prepares various reports, charts and graphs of a recurring nature.
  • Schedules conference rooms and makes other arrangements for meetings.
  • Organizes and maintains files and record systems; receives and sorts unit mail.
  • Receives and assists visitors.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE

  • Communicate effectively with others in a work environment
  • Data entry proficiency
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Proofread data
  • Accurately enter data on computer terminal keyboard
  • Communicate effectively with court personnel
  • Locate and obtain court records and information
  • General Clerical
  • 50 w.p.m. accurate typing skill, including word processing experience.
  • P.C. software application experience (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3; etc.
  • Spelling and grammatical skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Establish and maintain files
  • Format and prepare memos, letters, tables and reports

  • Prioritize work assignments
  • Stoop and bend while filing various documents
  • Telephone etiquette and procedures
  • Organization and planning skills
