Our client in Southfield, MI needs to hire a PAYROLL TAX ANALYST to provide support.

JOB TYPE: Full Time, Direct Hire, Immediate work

PAY: $50,000 - $65,000 annual depending on education, skills and work experience

REPORTS TO: Senior Payroll Manager

SCOPE: Assist a busy company by leading the payroll tax filing efforts. Follow up with all tax authorities in multiple states to be sure payments have been properly made by ADP and posted to the correct tax accounts. Reconciling all payroll G/L tax accounts. Also, assist in producing accurate, timely payroll.


  • Oversee day-to-day tax processing completed by ADP Tax Filing to ensure correct and timely filing and submission of all monthly, quarterly and annual payments and returns. Ensure all taxes and tax returns are paid and filed on time and accurately. Act as liaison with ADP and tax agencies to resolve any issues which arise with the tax filings.
  • Assist with tax credit recovery efforts by providing required data reports as needed.
  • Work hand in hand with the company Treasury department to advise on how much funding is needed for payroll and payroll taxes.
  • Ensure annual tax rate changes are updated in ADP, update tax spreadsheets and provide new rate information to the locations’ controllers for accrual purposes.
  • Ensure any new agencies requiring tax withholding are set up with ADP and in the company system.
  • Cross-train other members of the payroll team on the annual tax preparation procedures to ensure complete understanding of the company’ tax processes among the payroll team.
  • Review and update procedures and training manuals as needed to provide clear guidance of the payroll tax processes and comply with Sarbanes Oxley and internal audit requirements.
  • Assist the payroll processing department in processing maintenance changes for assigned locations and assist in the successful confirmation of payrolls according to the processing schedule. (Provide support to the payroll department as needed to process multi-state payroll)
  • Provide excellent customer service to plant HR personnel and employees by promptly answering questions and addressing concerns.
  • Assist in the achievement of the Human Resource/Payroll Department’s goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.


  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or General Business is desired, not required.
  • Minimum 3 years of solid Payroll TAX filing experience for multi-locations.
  • Software: ADP skills are a major plus.
  • Financial analysis skills including reconciliation of tax payments. Ability to create/modify journal entries.
  • Ability to perform well and meet deadlines. Attention to detail is critical. Strong personal work ethic.
