Looking for a Sr. Electronic Systems Engineer for our client located in the Ann Arbor, MI area.

The Senior Electronic Systems Engineer will be responsible for the electrical/electronic system development of aftermarket automotive products across several of the company’s brands.

  • Responsible for developing automotive E/E integration and systems solutions, along with suppliers, for new product concepts driven by management team per product strategy.
  • Analyze, develop and refine system concepts and sub-system component specifications that meet appropriate ISO/ASTM/OEM standards. System architecture design, including robust interface to the vehicle’s systems, is required.
  • Establish functional safety requirements according to applicable safety standards and vehicle-level constraints.
  • Utilize creative and critical thinking to develop new product concepts that have high customer appeal, function, and/or aesthetics.
  • Utilize SolidWorks for all CAD design and drawings. Propose alternate software as required.
  • Coordinate and perform product analysis and validation test activities for existing and new products for commercial viability, durability, and functionality. Understand FCC regulations and certifications.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 4-year Bachelor of Science – Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree.
  • 7+ years of hands-on, professional automotive product engineering experience working in OEM or Tier 1 electrical/electronics, car architecture, key and keyless entry, control modules, interior/exterior lighting, or equivalent is required.
  • Strong system understanding and working knowledge of vehicle architecture, OBDII, CAN-Bus (SAE J1939, etc.), LIN-Bus(J2602), functional safety standards (ISO 26262, etc.), cyber security knowledge, EMC, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with products include digital cameras, amplifiers, LED lighting, GPS location devices, WIFI connectivity, bluetooth, NFC, RFID and digital media streaming devices.
  • Ability to prototype systems for management reviews utilizing Arduino board or similar products and software (Processing, Flash, PD, MaxMSP, C/C++ etc…)
  • CAD experience in SolidWorks is preferred.
