A growing and profitable Automotive Supplier in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area is in need of a Stamping Cost Estimator. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Vacation.

Objective - Prepares Die Cost Estimations and Manufacturing Cost Estimations from product prints or math data provided by the customer in an exemplary manner according to the company quality policies. Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Previous Automotive Stamping and Tool and Die Experience

• Previous Cost Estimating experience with New Products and Tooling

• Prior experience with Blue Print Reading

Subject Matter Expertise:

• Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes - Metal Stamping, Welding and Assembly Required

• Exposure to product design

• Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software

• Experience with tool & die design and/or build via CAD

• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)

• Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred

• Ability to self-direct and manage workloads to meet customer timing while maintaining a positive and professional attitude during demanding schedules

• Ability and willingness to work in a team-based environment

• Excellent communication skills

• Strong active-listening and consensus-building skills, influencing team members and building credibility with all stakeholders

• Experience interacting both professionally and positively with internal and external customers

• Excellent work record, including attendance


• Review incoming quote information, including prints, CAD, standards, specifications, and program information for accuracy and completeness. Request information missing from Request for Quote (RFQ).

• Analyze customer supplied information to determine the Company's ability to manufacture the product with the most efficient means possible.

• Request input for non-core products as needed from engineering, Research & Development, quality, manufacturing, and the Tool Room.

• Upload and enter RFQ information into Quoting Software (PLEX) to begin quoting process.

• Request accurate estimates from corresponding internal suppliers. Establish and monitor due dates for each internal supplier.

• Combine all obtained information into final process to develop piece and tool pricing in Quoting Software.

• Complete the quote process by populating and uploading the appropriate customer forms.

• Manage quote timing to meet customer expectations. Record feasibility information for customer feedback. Maintain information database for quoting reference. Maintain electronic and paper file storage for future reference.

• Lead quote review meetings with internal disciplines, when needed.


• Define scrap income and rebates based on customer allowances and agreements.

• Define surcharge levels based on the market rate and customer guidelines.

• Analyze cost of components and operations that must be outsourced.

• Process engineering change price adjustments.

Die Estimation & Design:

• Directly contribute to the company’s sales growth by developing and quoting the most market competitive and feasible tool process and blank size possible.

• Develop blank size, using CAD and/or drawing. Repair and clean up incomplete or faulty CAD files upon receipt-to ensure CAD data can produce dependable results when ran through Forming Suite. Use Forming Suite to develop blank size when feasible.

• Complete Die Estimating Form as required and upload into Quoting Software for quote. Estimate required press tonnage and note tonnage on die estimating form.

• Review part design and tolerancing on customer provided drawings or CAD data. Design and draw options for customer to ensure part feasibility.

• Support international sites with tooling quotations and blank size calculations.

• Re-design non stamped products into stamping for potential sales at the company using CAD software.

• Attend technical review and pre-launch meetings, as required.
