Our client, a manufacturing company in the Lansing area, is seeking a Finance Director to lead finance for a business unit. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Director will provide strategic leadership on all financial metrics related to the business, partner with leadership to define and execute annual objectives, and own the financial forecasting and reporting. The Finance Director must be a strong leader with the ability to drive finance initiatives, be capable of establishing tactical plans, and be accountable for the results.

Responsibilities:

  • Support monthly close and forecast activities, summarizing financial results and expectations.
  • Maintain and improve rigor in financial and operational controls in the business.
  • Present results to the leadership team of the segment and the company, including the CEO, CFO, and other senior executives.
  • Help lead the business to achieve performance targets and key performance metrics.
  • Develop, track and maintain the business unit's operating budget and strategic plan.
  • Closely collaborate with Sales and Marketing on order results, forecasts, and annual plans.
  • Conduct analysis of gross margin, product lines, price performance, customer profitability, and risk and opportunity tracking.
  • Conduct SG&A spend analysis, working closely with functional teams to efficiently manage the cost structure of the business.
  • Lead acquisition due diligence and analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. MBA/CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years accounting experience, primarily in manufacturing and with revenues in excess of $100M+
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability and strong financial / business acumen
  • Working knowledge of forecasting and financial reports, general ledger, and ERP
  • The ability to balance a partnering approach while taking a firm stance on ethics, compliance, GAAP, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities across multiple functions and business segments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical financial information to non-financial associates
  • Willingness and desire to get into the details, including participation in factory stand-ups and other daily management activities
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills required
  • Ability to manage multiple locations and travel as needed
