The Process Engineer works closely with divisional, customer, and supplier staff specialists to ensure the successful development and implementation of engineering changes, Continuous Improvement Initiatives, and projects which affect die tooling and assembly processes. Responsible for the follow-up of mechanical systems designs for a variety of applications including: welders, robots and assembly, conveyor and transfer systems. Using project management skills and methodologies (APQP, PPAP & CPMP), Tracks, records, and reports on project progress and identifies, investigates, and develops solutions for problems encountered during the project, in order to meet all critical deadlines. Responsible for all aspects of the project including cost estimating and processing, raw material integration, establishing equipment process parameters and working with staff specialists to launch product from raw material to finished packaging, from its inception through PPAP, production and beyond.


• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or College Diploma in Engineering Technology; and/or a Certificate of Qualification in Tool and Die, with Project Management experience.

• Must have a minimum 5 years OF experience in small to large automotive tooling and welding manufacturing processes.

• This position requires the Process Engineer to understand dies including processing of stamped parts from raw material to finished good, presses, and automation and must be capable of estimating tooling/piece price cost from small to large stampings.

• Must have 2 - 5 years’ experience coordinating and managing projects related to tooling and assembly automated equipment.

• Proven leadership experience; excellent problem-solving ability; organizational and planning abilities; negotiation skills; and mechanical/technical abilities.

• Must have knowledge of and familiarity with Die Build Standards, project management, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, VA/VE, CAD and other automotive related activities.

• Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, organizational, project and time management skills.

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e.Word, Excel, Project, etc.).

• CAD computer skills an asset.

• Previous die/part processing and cost estimating a definite asset.


• Leads project and product related CFT meetings, ensuring open communication relating to all ongoing and potential projects/changes.

• Investigates die tooling work required for assigned engineering projects.

• Develops and writes equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, and proposals for integrating machinery and equipment such as robots, robot controllers, and programmable controllers into manufacturing process.

• Acts as liaison with customers and suppliers to anticipate and minimize the impact of design, tooling, material, and other engineering changes on the cost and capability of projects.

• Establishes and follows-up on full project implementation (concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, buy-off, prototype programs, etc.) and is responsible for project timing, quality and costs.

• Responsible to work with customer to finalize design requirements, reviews and approvals throughout design phase.

• Responsible to assign, follow-up and ensure vendor progress that meets or exceeds project timing.

• Responsible for analyzing scope of work during pre-award phase and to assist in development of manpower plan requirements to complete project within time constraints defined in the project timeline.

• Analyze and makes recommendations and provides technical support for the continuous improvement of divisional manufacturing projects and/or processes.

• Assists Business Development in developing die tooling costs, assembly processes and other associated items for new product quotations.

• Assist in the development of the Divisions Die Design Build Standards.

• Implements and practices APQP & CPMP procedures.

• Ensures that any changes to Bills of Material, tooling, and/or assembly processes are communicated to the appropriate departments and personnel.

• Prepares reports, charts, timing schedules, and other documentation (EC Sheet, Contract & Feasibility, checklists, Die/Weld sheets, etc.) required for engineering records and projects.

• Interfaces with co-workers in other departments such as maintenance and manufacturing to provide technical information and support.

• Ensures that all Installation Risk Assessment, PFMEA, Safety & CE Risk Assessment and MFMEA are in conducted and in compliance.
