Our client - an automotive parts manufacturer - is looking for a Plant Manager. This is a critical role within this facility and the organization as a whole. The right candidate will have previous plant management experience, including manufacturing, operations, and financial acumen.

Job Summary:

The General Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring that policies and procedures are being followed. The General Plant Manager will also be responsible for developing processes that will maximize safety, quality and productivity.


  • Manages the day to day operations as the senior manager addressing internal issues and customer concerns.
  • Oversees the overall planning of engineering and manufacturing to meet customer requirements and to insure maximum utilization of personnel and facilities.
  • Promotes the strict following of ISO guidelines and maintains certification.
  • Directs the development of departmental budgets and plans required to ensure effective operation of Engineering, Materials and Manufacturing Departments.
  • Oversees that operating departmental activities are carried out at minimum cost and following established policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that all products are designed and manufactured to meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
  • Provides support, direction, development and leadership to direct reports. Conduct performance reviews on direct reports.
  • Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement in the attainment of corporate goals.
  • Responsible for cost control and budget attainment.
  • Modifies production and inventory control programs in an effort to optimize profit.
  • Establish and execute capital planning efforts supporting manufacturing.
  • Meet required customer shipping schedules.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field. manufacturing, engineering or quality is preferred. Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Ten years of experience as a Plant Manager or a similar managerial/supervisory role, in a manufacturing environment with experience in the automotive industry, or a combination of degree and experience.
  • Experience in quality and environmental measurables such as IATF-16949 and ISO 14001.
  • Possess knowledge of plant department functions and corresponding roles and interactions to facilitate overall plant synergy.
  • Vision and ability to translate progressive operating techniques into applications and results.
  • Ability to mentor and teach the team effective problem-solving methods.
  • Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial and performance data.
