Our Client - an Automotive Parts Manufacturer near Fayetteville, AR - is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team.


The Project Engineer is directed by the Project Engineering Supervisor to complete activities associated with the design, development, and validation testing of aluminum automotive wheels, including feasibility reviews, target setting, design development and design definition. This position works effectively with Superior Account Managers and with Superior Product Engineers to ensure successful wheel design and validation testing in full compliance to standards and processes.

Project Engineering has the responsibility to perform initial surface review and provide feedback to our customer styling studio, perform iterative FEA simulations in developing the final wheel design, conduct feasibility meetings with the manufacturing plant, initiate test requests, approve test reports, and coordinate with the Product Engineer(s) to insure FTT and launch targets are achieved.

  • Perform all applicable duties outlined in Superior Industries APQP process.
  • Manipulate surface/solid models of new wheel designs using appropriate CAD software.
  • Conduct engineering/manufacturing feasibility meetings (FEA, Castability, Machinability, Finishing, & Design requirements).
  • Create and maintain design drawings for finished products and wheel castings.
  • Generate test requests and coordinate testing for new wheels to ensure that the design meets customer specifications.
  • Coordinate Fabrication of prototype samples to meet customer timing requirements.
  • Perform liaison with all other corporate departments to resolve any engineering issues.
  • Coordinate with Marketing Manager to establish overall program timing and ensure program milestones are met.


  • Requires a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2 years’ previous experience in project engineering and product design preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in the automotive industry. Experience on SPC, PPAP, FMEA, and product testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of GD&T to assure form, fit and function of related parts and Assemblies.
  • Understanding of the Aluminum manufacturing and processes would be an advantage.
